In addition to my news writing, I am writing fiction again ...
It has been months since I had the time to lose myself to a made-up world with characters from my dreams. They won't shut up and let me sleep, so I guess I need to let them speak. It is the process of getting my finished work out to agents and editors that I find daunting and incredibly time consuming, but manuscripts won't publish themselves. Keeping them tucked in a drawer (or lost in a folder on my computer) does nothing to further my cause. Time to get over it and "get 'er done." Seems only fitting that, for the next five weeks, I am in my favorite writing environment - Lakeside, OH - and the setting of my first novel "Something Strange at Water's Edge." What am I reading now? A GAME OF THRONES by George R. R. Martin - It is unusual for me, but I actually decided to read the book AFTER watching the first season of the HBO series. Normally, I'm a stickler for reading the book first, but am glad I flipped it this time. The books are well written, but there are so many names and historical figures that I found it easier to keep up with the plot when I could "see" the TV characters in my mind as I read. As expected, the book wasn't nearly as graphic as the TV series.
